It seems like Tiger fans were hidden under a rock the last few years b/c they were so terrible. Now they are out in full force for this year. So once they loose in the playoffs, do the fans go back under thier respective rocks? Did the Pistons bandwagon get so full that some of them had to jump to the Tigers while the gettin' was good? Whats next, the Det Lions bandwagon with Tim "the toolman" Taylor leading the way?

If you want to talk bandwagon fans, you should talk about the "Red Sox Nation" *gag*. The Sux were just the nail that got pounded by the Yankee's hammer year after year after year. Then, two years ago in a fluke they win the Series and break "the curse" and everybody becomes a fan. This year they're back in the place they are accustomed to in September, fading fast looking up at The Evil Empire. I predict this is where they'll be for years to come, and the Nation will revert to their customary role of supporting the "lovable losers".

It's just like any other team. Yankee fans didn't come out (except for those in NY) until about 1995. From the late '80s until mid '90s, they were invisible. Same with New England Patriot fans, Dallas Maverick fans, and now Detroit Tiger fans. The winning teams get the attention and more people are proud to admit that they are fans. I have been a big Cincinnati Bengals fan since I was a kid in the '80s. All through the '90s, it seemed like I was the only one. Now they are everywhere. This is all typical. I get blamed for being a bandwagon jumper because I am a Braves fan. Even though I started watching them in '89 (two years before they even made the playoffs) when David Justice first started playing, I still get branded with the "bandwagon" title.

Have you ever thought about WHY people are "fair weather" fans?
Ticket prices are no longer cheap. Getting to the games is no longer cheap.
Would YOU spend your hard earned money on going to a game when your team loses 75% of them? You may still be a fan, at home.
Honestly, the people I know from Detroit, have never stopped wearing their classic tiger baseball caps.
Yes, the Lions suck... but I think Detroit has a pretty decent hockey team to help get through the winter... or have you never heard of the Red Wings?

They're called bandwagon fans. I'm a Yankee fan... and believe me, we've got MILLIONS of them.
Most of them don't start pretending to be Yankees fans until the Mets are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
This year it'll take a little longer... like right after the mets lose in the division series... then all the blue and orange will go away for the winter... and the pinstripes will come out.

If The Tigers should lose I'll still be standing on top of that rock that others will go back to hide under.
I never cared for the pistons or the wings or the lions...so if they win I could care less.
MLB is the sport.

Just watch, in 2 weeks when the ChiSox are #1 in the division, there will be no one who's a Kittie fan talking, kind of like the same situation with the Red Sox.

They are like an "independent" voter....they wait for the winning bandwagon and then they jump on and claim to have been there all along......didn't see too many Tiger fans at Yankee Stadium the other night....bet you there would be more Yankee fans when they come visiting in their stadium....started to say Tiger Stadium..is it still that.....is Al Kaline and Harvey Khuene still playing??

Its not really that the tickets are too expensive, you can get tickets for 5 bucks at Tigers Stadium. But then you have to either park in the ghetto or pay a ton to park in a "safer" area. Its not worth all the hassle just to see them get whipped. Now that they finally aren't sucking completely, more people are realizing that its worth the effort to go to downtown D town. Would you drive all the way to the ghetto at night just to watch something boring like your team getting their butts kicked? Yeah, us either.
