i want a long life hard drive for my PC. Please HELP!

it shoudl not matter
check the buffer on the drive
8mb and above and the speed of the drive
get the 7200 rpm
dont get the 5400rpm
an ultra ata drive is good
try to get a higher capacity it shoudl cost u a few dollars more
r u getting a internal or external?

In the past, I have replaced several failed Maxtor drives. I've yet to see a Seagate drive fail. Seagate drives appear to be faster than Maxtor drives, at least in my opinion.

I like the seagate much better than the maxtor but I have never had a maxtor die on me. The seagates always seem to take a crap on me when I least expect it.

Really quick...they are both made by the same company...seagate bought maxtor hard drives...so it would not matter!!!
I am running two Sata Seagate Hard drives in my computer 7200 rpm I have been using them for a year and no problems!!!

but why do u want a 40 these day people need 80gs i have a maxtor the best i had a seagate it was crap

I have seen more DEAD Maxtor drives, so I would go with Seagate. (but I have seen many many Maxtor drives, so I do not have a fair comparison).

Best in my experienced SEAGATE is better than Maxtor. Bec. i tried to use MAXTOR before but it easily damaged.

Seagate...5 Year warranty on new drives if for no other reason.

I have heard seagate too, but I also heard that you should not expect any to last more than 3 years.
