What are the ramifications of the Z chromosome within the human race?

Have looked on Wikapedia and some other places but can't find much, am hoping some of you other Yamsters can help me on this one.

Humans don't have a Z chromosome. In mammals, females have 2 of a (XX) chromosome and males have 1 each of 2 kinds (XY). In some other animals (chickens, turkeys, and moths are the examples I've seen), males have 2 of a (ZZ) chromosome and females have 1 each of 2 kinds (WZ).
The only ramifications I could see are if we found, through contrasting studies of XX-XY and ZZ-WZ regulation in sex formation, what makes the sexes develop. Who knows what we'd do with that information...

Strange, I wanted to ask a similar question today...that is until I saw yours. I would see the matter in terms of ethnogroups rather than race. Anyway, here's my list: - Jews: primarily those of Ashkenazi, Sephardi, and Mizrahi extraction. - North Europeans: Britons, Dutchmen, Swiss, Germans, Scandinavians, Northern Frenchmen. - Mediterraneans and South Europeans: on a par with North Europeans, includes Greeks, Italians, Portuguese, Cypriots and Spaniards. - East Asians: Japanese, Koreans, Han & Hui Chinese, Manchus, Cambodians, Viets, Laot people. I'm missing out on others, these ethnicities have displayed amazing adaptiveness and are probably well on the way to usher an age of Asian domination. I've opened a question about the future belonging to East Asians not so long ago. - East/Central Europeans: Poles, Czechs, Russians, Ukrainians being the most significant achievement-wise so far. - North Indians: Sindhi, Pashtun, Baloch, and other Indo-Aryan peoples. A lot of mathematicians & investors turn out to come from the Republic of India nowadays. Of course, there are many factors to take into account before coming to raw conclusions: present-day situation, historical legacy, and the fact that we are mainly talking about advancements carried out by individuals. Here's an interesting fact: Back in the days of Victoria's reign, British racialists would place the Ancient Athenians at the very top of the human intelligence scale (Niall Ferguson; Empire: The Rise & Demise Of The British World Order And The Lessons For Global Power, 2003), they put the Anglo-Saxon race in the second spot. Since the former were no longer among us, it meant that Anglo-Saxons were inheritors to the Athenians back in the 19th century. I will personally refrain from making a hierarchy out of my list, but I will say that Jews are closer to Ancient Greeks in terms of intelligence nowadays. You find extremely intelligent people in Jewry...but there's also the other side of the coin. A sizeable proportion Jewish individuals who are abysmally dumb is also to be found. And this stupidity is found in many circles of Jewry (orthodox rabbis in particular) and has led this people to grieve various times throughout history. I'll also say that the Chinese are seeking to increase the IQ of their children with the help of eugenics (BGI Shenzen is currently genotyping intelligent individuals). So they may very well become the most intelligent of all if they succeed. There are so many things to say about that, it really depends on how you look at it. Low birth rates are frequent in intelligent peoples, but does that necessarily mean that it is intelligent not to breed and reproduce?
