We have a 99 dodge mini van and had to replace the transmission. Yes, there is a problem with them. There is a pin in the transmission that works itself loose and starts rubbing the inside of the transmission housing. The first sign is a light ticking noise, the second sign is leaking tranny fluid. At that point the housing is ruined and the tranny has to be replaced. The shop that fixed ours says they do dozens of these, for the same reason, every year. In spite of that, we just bought an end of the model year 2006 Town & Country. Oh yeah, the tranny replacement cost us $1400.
