Don't get me wrong, it's a fun movie. But when people go on about how it changed their lives, I look at them a bit oddly. So what am I missing? What is so great about Star Wars?

Star wars is the best set of movies. It changed my life only in that it has given me a hobbie. Really thats what an obssesion with star wars is a hobbie. Some people collect coins I collect action figures and toy ships. Some people biuld moddle cars, I build modle space ships. Some people read books, I read star wars books. Its a hoobie and is no wierder than bird watching or rock collecting or any other hobbie.

I like Star Wars but at te same time I like probably 1000 other movies too. I own the whole set on DVD (along with about 400 more movies) but I can say that I have watched the whole set about twice since having them. They are OK but no better than any other movie I guess.

You aren't missing a thing. For every whack job who dresses up and attends conventions where like-minded whack jobs endlessly debate whether Han Solo or Greedo shot first, there are dozens of people who simply liked Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for what they were, good old fashioned space opera entertainment.

To me, star wars isn't that great. Actually it's kinda creepy. You are right it is kinda odd at how much people change their lives over it.You aren't the only one who thinks star wars is overrated. I saw a couple of them and I dont find star wars that great. Thats my opinion. Hope you find your answer, Zaikee13

I guess I can't give you a totally informed answer here, because I haven't really seen one all the way through since the original Star Wars, and have seen absolutely nothing of any of the new ones. Maybe that in and of itself is an answer to your question.

The originals are great, but Lucas was so far up his own *** when he went to make Episode 1 that it came out as a steaming pile of crap. 2 was better but oo long and too many special effects, 3 was good but its no Empire.

I wouldnt say it changed by life, I just really like them

In it's hey day it was ground-breaking, nobody had ever seen sfx like it. You are right though it was made as a stand alone movie in case if failed and although it's not a bad afternoons entertainment it no longer has the life changing impact it had in the 70s. May the force be with you Luke!

I love the Star Wars movies but I would not say it changed my life or anything. I am not like those who dress like Princess Leia or Queen Amidala or anything
