It's fine to tan when it's cloudy but the rays of the sun are stronger when it's cloudy so the sun can get through.

yes you can tan when its cloudy. Darkening of the skin is caused by an increase or release of the pigment melanin into the skin's cells after exposure to ultraviolet radiation. UV Rays can penitrate the clouds even though the suns light cant.

i got sunburned on a cloudy day. i went swimming and burned pretty badly, and it didn't tan afterwards. i'm hoping it was just because i was pregnant. i haven't tried since. but if it's hot enough out and the sun in behind those clouds bringing the heat i think you could.

well it is a possibility cause the clouds act like reflectors sort of. you know when it is clowdy and snowy it is warmer than when it is a clear sky and not couldy. besides that clouds are water just in smaller particles and water reflects stuff. u know how you can get burnt worse when swimming then in like hiking or something.
