I think part of it could be because of how much more accepting society is of gay people today versus even 15 years ago......I also believe that many young people have been experimenting with both sexes and this confuses them....I think that they do it to try it and then are not really sure if that is how they are or if they are just trying it....I do think this is an up and coming problem with our youth, but realize that it will not be resolved......I have a family member who was sexually abused as a child and now will not have relations with the opposite sex because they believe that they are deformed...they will not even got to the doctors office in fear of actually hearing that there is something wrong with their genitals.....this has made this person gay now...but I dont think that this person would be gay if they had not been abused as a child....

Homosexuality is more widely accepted now then it was in the past. People can come forward about their homosexuality more openly. The "consequences" for being gay are no longer what they were in the past. I also think more people are "open" to the idea. Not just accepting it, but experimenting in it.

There were probably as many, maybe even more....but maybe because it wasnt as widely accepted as it is now, most of them just pretended to be straight for the fear of becoming outcasts in society. Other than that, as more people are aware of the concept of homosexuality, they can experiment and explore.

More people on the earth and more coming out of the closet. The numbers may not be higher, but it seems that way because of these things.

I think it's because there is more freedom and might have been gays in the past but they not official or popular.

I don't think that there are more gays now than in the past.
The reason is that now they're accepted but in the past they were afraid to show who they truly are.

Probably not any significantly more than there was in the past, it's just that more people are 'out' because it is more widely accepted.
