how do i get help from being ripped-off from utilies companies like nicor gas?.

They over charge you, pro rate your gas so that u pay the highest amount all year around when your using less in the other
months

dude your not thinking with your brain what your suggesting coast just as much if not more!.and it's more work and money we can't afford to begin with to have tradesmen do the work which has to be liscensed and done under a work permit!!!.

this company claims they have a policy to read meters only every other month, when u ask to have it done every month they say no that's not their policy.
when they pro rate u u end up with a bill as high as the month before even if it's actually lower that particular month.

this happens all the time in the suburbs because nicor is the company u have to deal with uot here not peoples gas they supply it but you pay your bills to nicor.

You need to call them and tell them that you want an actual meter reading done regularly. They can only prorate your bill if you let them. You must ask to pay for actual usage. I had the same problem. Btw- once they come do a reading they need to credit you for any overpayments.

Stop using their products. Dig a well for water and a septic tank for sewer (be sure to build them on opposite sides of the house) install your own diesel powered generator for electricity, and rent some propane tanks for heat and cooking.

if you're stuck with them, i.e. no other gas companies tht service your area, your only option is to file a complaint with your local public utility commission. might not do anything but at least they'll get a heads up about your compaint. sadly the pric eof gas is dictated by the state i believe. how the gas company itself charges you it totally up to them really. believe, even if you bi*tch and complain or ask to speak to a manager, they're not going to care AT ALL. trust me
