There are any number of reasons for blood in the stool.

Some are more serious than others.

Is it a lot of blood or just a small amount, is it all the time?

You should really go to a doctor and find out the real reason, if it is something more serious you need to take care of it as soon as possible. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck.

It could be an number of things. Many problems in the colon have the same symptoms such as: diverticulitis, IBS, cancer, hemorrhoids or just irritations from the enema and upper GI..

The best thing would be to have a follow up with your regular doctor or your gastroenterologist to see if you are ok. If you do have to have a colonoscopy, the prep for that is worse than the actual procedure. I recommend that you eat very lightly the day before you have to take the bowl prep. The less in the less to clean out. Good luck.

Bright red fresh blood is not that worrisome...somtimes caused by hemmoroids or a fissure (slight crack near rectum). Dark or black blood in a stool is much more serious and indicative of an internal problem/bleeding...ulcers, colon condition etc. and should be addressed immediately by a doctor.

Haemorroids, constipation whereby a hard stool tears the inner lining of the rectum or anal sphincter.
This can also be a sign of cancer of the colon.
