The original movie was "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" (1967), starring Sidney Poitier as a black man coming home to meet his white girlfriend's parents. Excellent movie, by the way.
We have unfortunately gotten so politically correct these days, that's it's common to watch a black comedian get on stage and bash white people with no problems whatsoever. If a white comic did the same thing, they would most likely destroy their career. It's a sickening double standard that is carried on by the media and the bleeding heart groups like the ACLU. I'm wondering why we need a "Black History Month"? Maybe it should be an American History Month.

You're right, but that doesn't justify whites making fun of blacks. Two wrongs don't make a right. There is racism everywhere, so there is really no need to ask this question. Whites aren't innocent from it, Asians aren't, Blacks aren't, etc. We should all just get along, but it isn't that easy, there's too much hate in this world to turn back, unfortunately. Nobody said it is socially acceptable to poke fun at whites, because I'm part black, and even I hate it. I think it can be funny sometimes when the stuff comedians talk about is true about certain races, then I'll laugh. But I know exactly what you mean. But it means we should try to get rid of it totally, but it doesn't justify whites doing it to blacks just because blacks do it to whites. Think about the stuff you learned as a kid. Treat others how you would want to be treated, even if they aren't treating you the way you want to be treated. There is know justification for being vengeful or wanting revenge, remember that...

Black people in general have been taught to hate white people and to contest everything possible that can be twisted into looking like it could be racist. I believe that most of them don't even realize just how ridiculous some of their claims of racism is. Things have got so far out of hand with this situation that it's almost comical in it's self. That's what a movie should be made about, showing both sides of the coin.
Also, speaking of slavery, how many people know the truth? Did you know that the Spaniards are the ones that purchased the slaves from their own people and brought them to America and sold them to the Americans? Did you also know that there were black people right here in America that were free and also owned slaves? If we are going to talk slavery we need to talk the whole truth, not just what makes the whites look bad.

Racism comes from every side.
The ACLU wouldn't picket anything, they simply protect the civil rights of a person or group that have those rights infringed upon. if you'll notice when a statement from the ACLU is made it's because someone ASKED, not because they stepped up to do so.
I simply don't watch/support any newer movie that has racism as a subject matter. While some(many actually) see it as comedy, others take those little jibes and situations to heart and see it as Carte Blanche to do the same as is done in the movie(act in a racist fashion).

I know you're talking about Guess Who. Tell you the truth, it's a remake of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and in that one, the movie WAS the other way around (Sidney Poitier was the black man trying to marry the white woman) and her parents almost had a coronary. The mother was more quick to accept but the father was, you guessed it: A proud Caucasian man. I still don't see any picketing. And don't you mean the NAACP instead of the ACLU? NAACP is the one that always cries racism, not the American Civil Liberties Union. Get it together. I'm fine with interracial dating/marriage, biracial kids, and all of that. And not everyone is gonna be chummy with another race outside of their own, and they can't be forced to, but the majority of us do so out of our own free will. See? We can get along!!

personally, i don't like the term "reverse racism" - racism is what is simple as that, there is no "reversing" of it. Was that the title of the movie - i am not sure what movie you are speaking of.
to address your question - - look at american society for what it is. africans were enslaved a long time ago yes, but the effects of slavery are still alive and well. people are still suffering from those mental effects both the african and the european. Africans have been stripped of their religious beliefs, they have been conditioned to hate themselves and each other. Europeans (or whites) have been conditioned to believe that they are the best there is and everything else is inferior. Those beliefs are still alive, although covered up very well.
this country (america) was stolen from the native peoples, built on the backs of africans who were stolen from their native land & separated from their families, raped & brutalized - 400 years can not erase that
i am sorry that you can not see past those lies that they have tried to trick us into believing for so long. with an open mind you should try to read more about our country's history - - not the one they piece together in our school books either

racism is racism there is no reverse. Did you know that the slaves here were bought from black people in Africa that had already enslaved them? .......and that if it wasn't for laws made here against it there would still be slavery in africa. WE just kind of went overboard making up for past mistakes and need to level the playing field again. No race of people is better than the next. What I think the problem is , is the culture difference not the color difference.

You've definetly got a point. However, there's no such thing as reverse racism--it's just racism, no matter which direction it's in.
(btw, years and years ago, there was a movie (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner) where a white girl brought home a black guy and her dad threw a fit. The one you're talking about is a remake of that.)

I just moved to the south from "up north" and i never heard of reverse racism until moving here. I am a minority in the area I live and I think that you bring up a very interesting point. The things I have been subjected to myself and what I have seen, if it was reverse at "home" there'd be lawsuits left and right! I just don't get it!! I dont' know how it's acceptable for it to happen to white people and not the other way around - granted black people did suffer - AGES ago - nobody i know was a slave - i don't know why they still carry that chip on their shoulder - my twice-removed grandmother was a Native American Indian Princess and our family isn't bitter over what happened to Native Americans, you know? Anyway - good point - interesting thoughts!

Actually the movie was made. It is called "Guess Who's Comming to Dinner." The movie "Guess Who" is the reverse. The original was considered shocking in it's day, and is considered very racist even today. Guess Who was made to show just how attitudes seem to only work in one direction. It was made not only to make you laugh, but to make you think, especially if you had seen the original.
