It is not a "fact" that the vagina can only stretch to 10 cm.
If it were explain how I gave birth to a baby with a 14cm head without tearing at all!
The vagina is extremely stretchy, and if you massage it, and push slowly to allow it to stretch out gradually, you can give birth without being cut or tearing at all.
Many midwives also use massage and warm compresses to help the skin stretch. Ask about perineal massage if you are worried about tearing.

well the vagina Accommodates or makes room for the head to come out, but for that to happen the cervix has to be thinned out and dialted to 10 cm

it is a fact that the vaginal walls only stretch to 10 centimeters. if the babys head is larger the doc will cut her"to it" to make more room, or use the suction cup or forceps to help the baby out. VERY PAINFUL either way, hope this helps you

As scary as this may sound, think about how big a canteloupe is. That's roughly how bis you have to be.

as big as it needs to be -- if it doesn't stretch as big as the baby's head then the doctor starts cutting...if they don't cut you'll tear. OUCH!
