ive seen waynes coating made on the t.v shows like tading spaces and so forth but, they never go into in-depth details. Ive been told that you can use oak veneer panel boards and then make the frame like trim. does anyone have any suggestions or ideas. I prefer the stained waynes coating(my crown moulding is wood-stained). what I need is just the info on the types of wood to use and what kind of trim to make it look professional

Go to the lumber yard and tell them you are looking for bead board wainscoating. It ususally comes already cut to the correct size. You just nail and/or glue it to the wall, and top it off with chair rail trim. It is easy to do and makes a room look great. It can be painted or stained to saitsfy your preference.

You can buy the panels of it at Home Depot or Lowes - much cheaper than try to make your own - they make it stain grade to match your molding and paint grade.
