Has anyone seen the phenomenon St. Elmo's fire?

If so, where, and what was it like?

A few times, at sea and in the air.
Just a fairy of greenish/buish lights, more a halo, at the point of the masts or at the ends of the wings.
Not scary if you know what it is.
Scary in the air, mind you: the weather is getting b..y bad!
