I think the best thing you can do is show him that you support his efforts to overcome his addictions. I would not rush into a relationship with him too soon, I think it will be helpful to him if you express an interest in a future with him, but he must know that he must remain free of any of substance abuse. I would tell him that only if you have the desire to recommit to a relationship with him. Do not give him ant false hope, be truthful about what he must do to come into the family again. Good luck.

Should you give him another chance for what? With you? Or with his son? He should always have the chance to mend his relationship with his son. He is always going to be his father no matter what. He has rights just as much as you do. As for you, that is a choice that you need to make from your heart. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance, whether they take it or not is the issue. If he is telling you he will change we all know that is doesn't always end up that way, but the choice is.

that is up to u.. i'd put him on a trial first before u accept him back fully.. why not take it slow.. but only u know what he put u through... make him prove to u that he'll stay clean and that w/u and ur sons is where he wants to be....

tread litely, 11 months is not that long. And its more then just not using, its about changing your behavior that comes along with addiction.
