What is 10% of $402? I've tried to calculate it sevral times with and without a calculator, but still dont think I'm not getting the right answer; help please?

402 = 402.00. Move the decimal point one number to the left. 10 percent = 40.2.

You just move the decimal place over one spot. 10% of 402.00 is 40.20. Why do you need a calculator for that?

One decimal point to the left does the trick --> $40.20

** Bonus Tip --> when figuring out dinner tip, move one decimal place to the left and double the whole number (~20% tip)

for my calcualtor i just punch in 402. +(plus), then X(times) 10 %. this should give you the answer
