Talk to your pediatrician, most children should not be started on cows milk until 1 year old and some longer if they have shown signs of allergy. If your son is 1 year start replacing one feeding a day with a bottle or sippy cup of cows milk. Every few days replace another feeding. If you do this gradually you will have much less discomfort than if you stop all at once. Best of luck, it took me 3 weeks with my son and 4 months with my daughter to get them weaned. Each child is different and has different needs and attachments to breastfeeding. Like my daughter your son might have a emotional attachment to breastfeeding that can cause anxiety when they are switched to a bottle.

Do not, I repeat, do not give your son cow's milk until he has reached one year or it has been approved by a doctor. Milk is very hard on a baby's stomach and a lot of damage could be done at a very young age if you are not careful. If your son is a year old, I still recommend going to the doctor and just asking him what he thinks. If all is okay, just be patient and add a little more cow's milk and a little less breastmilk everyday, it's a slow, time-consuming process, but it's important that you take it slowly

Try the straw cups, my son loved it. He was curious and thought it was fun so he kept coming over and sipping it. He naturally knew to suck it.

And you know what to make my life easier and make him not so picky, I never bothered to heat it up and he's drank it cold and still does. Once they get used to it warm then it becomes a problem when you are out and it needs to be heated up, I couldn't deal with that. Also, I hate heating things up in the microwave, it kills all the nutrients.

As far as weaning him off, I just always made the cow's milk available and just held off on the feedings and distracted him. Even if he whines about it I would just try to put it off a few minutes more and more each time and offer him the cow's milk instead.

try do it really slow . say you have a 6oz bottle have an 1 oz of cows milk and the rest breast milk, do that for about 3-4 days then try 2oz of cows milk and 4oz of breast milk and so forth. keep adding more cows milk than breastmilk and over a few weeks he will be weaned, take slow though, some babies may have more of a tough time than others, but watch his reactions, he might not like the taste of cow milk right away but he will get used to it. Also try to Vitiamen D Milk instead of 2% or skim
I wish you the best of luck, just remember to go slow and watch your babies cues.

If your kiddo is 12 months, I would start by giving them a sippy cup of milk, say in the morning with breakfast. I personally wouldn't give a bottle and I wouldn't warm it up, just creates a habit thats hard to get out of. Been there done that :)
If you are using whole milk be careful, whole milk tends to constipate babies. We had such a problem with it that I either had to mix the milk with water or use 2%. After talking to my doctor he reccommended that we only use 2%, said that is what most pediatricians are reccommending now, but make sure you ask.

Just start by substiutitng a nursing session with a sippy cup of milk. Good luck

Well what you need to do, is to start feeding him bottles of warm cows milk. If he is already on the bottle, then instead of putting breast milk in the bottle, put warm cows milk in there. Your son make hate it at first but if you keep refusing to give him breast milk he will soon decide to give the cows milk a chance and then he will begin to like it. That is what I think you should do.

My son was hard to ween off mamas milk too, the best way is to do a half and half mixture so they get use to the taste change first maybe like a75% breast milk and 25% whoel milk. Its the best way and slowly increase the amount of whole milk and decrease the breat milk. Thats what i did and it worked great, also try a sippy cup as well :)

I assume that he is at least 12 mos old if you are talking about weaning to cow's milk?

You'll want to go very slowly, eliminating one feeding approx every 5 days. This will make the transition gentle for him and help to prevent problems such as engorgement, plugged ducts and mastitis for you.

I started giving my baby cow milk when he was 7 months old. I started with 2% milk. I gave him first just a couple of sips, just to see his reaction. But he didn't threw up or any unusual signs, so I gave him some more.Always warm!!!
He loved it.
When he was 10 months old I gave him regular milk, the same way, I started with a couple of sips...., since that no problems at all!
:)

My toddler refuses any cows milk in a bottle he spits it out- he's 15 months and desires to nurse frequently at evening. he will drink some organic and organic strawberry flavored milk purely out of a container with a straw, if that's in a bottle he will use it to water the carpet and his ft. looks they get greater linked to nursing the older they are.. tires me out!
