1. We didn't hate France. We had a disagreement on how to conduct the Iraq situation.
2. We didn't change the name of "french fries". That was a joke.
3. Even though the Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French, it is more a symbol of America than anything else, including the idea of Liberty shared by the two nations.
4. The expression "french fries" does not refer to France. See below a definition from Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
Main Entry: french
Pronunciation: 'french
Function: transitive verb
Usage: often capitalized
1 : to trim the meat from the end of the bone of (as a chop)
2 : to cut (green beans) in thin lengthwise strips before cooking

Because we dislike them on a personal level, not a national level. That would be extremely undiplomatic of us to give back the statue of liberty. However, individuals changing the name of food they serve at their restaurants is pretty standard protesting, and people all over the world do it to the U.S. all the time. France probably didn't even notice.

Because the Statue of Liberty is mounted (permanent), and it is a national icon. And the freedom fries thing really didn't catch on. It was a way to convey our displeasure with them.

Because “freedom fries” sound so Bush. Very much a tribute to our National past time of “war against terra.” Statue of Liberty, well we can just keep it there and when a terrorist flies a plane into it then we will have a good excuse to invade another oil rich country.

I didn't realize that we did either!! what history book are you reading?? Further, the French have been strong allies of our for years, even though the nut they have in there as President now has been difficult to deal with. He has been consistent, however, so at least we know what to expect from him and his government, which is not much.
Chow!!

and why do we call them "french" fries they are not a french food, or even french toast ( it is not french or even toasted )
And beyond that, any county that believes eating snails is a good thing needs to be watched closely anyway.
