One of those guys had 5 grand knocked of his salary and they all have to attend a "cultural diversity" course.
What the hell is that all about?
If they had been muslims and they objected on religious grounds then that would have been fine. But because they just didnt want to dress as firemen in the close proximity of thousands of omo's they are to be dealy with like criminals.
This has made me so angry .
If you are a hetrosexual man, the thought of gay men turns your stomach. At best you can say "I dont care what you stick into yourself" That is the fact.
If you decide that you dont care enough to be sickened then thats about as good as they will get. Why are these men being punished?
When will this country and the rest of the world learn that the majority overrules the minority?
I dont want to even see a gaylord let alone march with a bunch of them. And if I had been in the firemans place I would have refused too.
So... should they have been punished?

Sorry about the aggressive tone of my question but I am furious at this turn of events.
No fire fighter has ever said " sorry mate , cant help you cos your gay. Cant save you or put your fire out"
Im sure that the sexuality of the people that they save is the last thing on their mind and rightly so.
However. They didnt want to be seen as promoting this march and as such shouldnt have been punished for refusing to.

Just out of interest, were there any fires at this bum march?
No.... and if there had been, the brigade would have attended .

I think it is silly to punish firemen for not wanting to march in a parade or hand out leaflets.
Let's get a grip, here. What does being 'gay' mean? To me, it means that there are people who have a sexual preference. That's fine. But there are other people with other sexual preferences, and it isn't a matter of advertising and parade making and even if it were, it wouldn't be a matter where firemen would be forced to attend or promote it.
For example, porn businesses promote sex, too. If porn businesses decided to have a parade to advertise their sexual preferences, firemen shouldn't be required to go, to wear their uniforms or to give out leaflets to promote those porn businesses or the practices they espouse.
By the way, firemen are professionals. They would put the fire out in a gay bar or a porno film studio, just the same. Parades and fires are two different things.

The point is that they are in a job where they are supposed to be saving people's lives. They cannot choose whos life they want to save and who they don't.
They were only ask to hand out fire safety leaflets that day and not actually take part in the march.
Andy Baker, you are an extremely sad individual. Maybe you should try a "cultural diversity" course.

African Americans
Jewish People
Japanese
Hispanics
Women
So on and so forth into eternity...
Society changes. And eventually, you're going to have to accept that. And no, not every heterosexual man gets sick "at the thought of gay men." Just those who can't accept cultural change. Thank goodness for people willing to stand up for cultural diversity!

It's a load of bullshit!! This government is always trying to force us to except gays. They should stick to more importent things and let people decide for themselves who they want to march with or whatever. What about those fireman's basic human rights that the goverment keeps talking about. All of a sudden it does'nt matter and all they care about is the poor gay people. I say those fireman should fight back cause this goes against they're human rights.

i had a lot to say but im just going to keep it short. i agree with you that gay sex makes me sick as well but firefighters are there to protect the community and the people in it. i have no problem with gay people if they keep it to themselves but come on a gay march. lets start the straight march. better yet lets make it the straight white American march. im sick of all these minority shi t. we all know bet black entertainment tv. if we were to start an all white channel it would be w.w.3. and when jamie fox, i guy that i like when on stage and thanked and prayed for all things black and only black it made me sick. your an American or not as far as im concerned. theres no sex, color or race. and yes gays too, they just need stop throwing it in every ones face.

I work in the public sector the same as firemen do and part of the interview for all public sector workers is ..do you discriminate against any minorities...if the answer is yes ,then you do not get any further ..end of !

you're right it is wrong, i'm getting more than a little bit tired of these so called minorities, be it race, religion and sexual preference, i'm not gay, so why should i have to put up with their antics. They wonder why they get treated badly by us "straight" people could it be that its just that we're tired of being pushed around by them? By the way when was the last time we made Gay people hand out flyers at a "straight" march????

I dont think they should have been punished at all. This country was built on freedome of speech and to believe in what we want. By punishing the fire fighters they are taking our freedom away.
