Strictly speaking, the answer is no.
The UK is an acronym for the 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. In other words, the UK only encompasses England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. For example, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are not part of the UK (although they are for the purposes of Nationality).
With the legacy of the British Empire, the varying status of previous 'possessions' can be confusing. Gibraltar is not a Crown Colony or Overseas Territory, but instead a Dependent Territory of the UK.

No, Gibraltar is not a part of the UK, but it is owned by the UK.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland is a single political entity, a sovereign nation consisting of 4 regions (or 'countries', in an unusual use of the word, close to US States) England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland. Anything else is no part of this nation, UK, incl Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, St Kitts & Nevis.
Numerous territories are owned by the UK, yet form no part of the nation UK.
Basically an owned territory is from colonial days, when UK owned more than half the world's land in some form. So Gib is a colony, though to use an officially outated term. Even though most of these territories have independent government, and the term is officially outdated, colony is still the best way to understand territories such as Gib. There are various type names, which can change. Citizens are usually some form of British Citizen anyway - full or limited, even though not from UK itself.

Gibraltar is a British overseas territory. It is located on the south of the Iberian Peninsula, overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar which links the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. The territory shares a land border with Spain to the North. Gibraltar has historically been an important base for the British Armed Forces and is the site of a British naval base.

Gib is a UK colony and the Spanish want it back! It has its own Government - led by a First Minister who lives at Number6. It has its own legislation and is affiliated with the EU community. Just to clear up some of the other answers received - the airport is owned by the UK Government MoD - run by the RAF and the base is Royal Navy. The services are represented on the rock by the Army, Airforce and Navy - and i am currently living on the rock!

YES. There are borders which are guarded by British Military dividing it off from Spain. Its cheaper than both the Uk and Spain. Still an important military base, i don't see the UK giving it up any time soon.

they say that they are British through fact they are BRITISH. The OED says that "British" contains "British matters" Wikipedia says, "British human beings, Britons, or Brits, matters of the united kingdom, of the Isle of guy, between the Channel Islands, or of one of the British foreign places territories, and their descendants" Gibraltar is what was once referred to as a "British Colony" It belongs to Britain, so it rather is legally British. Sorry even though it fairly is basically a actuality. There are some racist undertones to all this. perhaps the 'Johnnies' / Juanitos might desire to stay interior the color somewhat extra.
