Yes, and it DOES occasionally work but it is WRONG! you should NOT try this. Most security guards are NOT stupid! A good security guard won't fall for this, or at least, not one who wants to keep his job! These girls who do this are called GROUPIES! They give the true fans/die-hards a bad name.
The true fans are the ones who attend every conert, know all the trivia, buy the merchandise, want autographs, and genrally go through legitiamate sources to meet the band. They also know the gossip AND have every cd and know evey song by every note. (because they have HEARD it 10,000 times.) The true fan websites are more about information. you may run across one that looks more like "band member is so cool". the groupies try to sleep with the band.
The groupies do all of this PLUS try to sleep with the band. The groupies also make the "I love band member" websites.
The stalkers are the mentally insane ones. They are the ones who do things like break in the houses steal underwear and DON'T sell it on EBAY, follow them everywhere. Basically paparazzi with the camera who aren't interested in selling the photos. Stalkers might post the photos on the websites. Stalkers are the ones who find the contact information and USE it.
You also have the "I like them." I think most people fall into this category. These people buy the cds and attend a couple concerts when they come into town. They also like other bands. The "yeah I like thems" might keep up with the latest on what the band is doing music wise, but not usually with the gossip.
You also have the teeny boppers. they are usually in middle school. maybe high school, though high schoolers won't admit to liking the band unless the band is considered cool by high school standards and they won't admit their obsession. Most band members are around their 20's and the teeny bopper crowd is in middle school, possibly high school. the mentality is that If I meet him he'll fall for me. signs of this is Mrs band member of foo fighter." They usually focus on one or two member of the band. It doesn't have to be a lead singer. It could be a drummer or a guitarist. The logic is usually "he's hot" or in the more developed cases "we like the same things". The girls may or may not plan a wedding. The good news is that the teeny bopper phase passes but the girl remembers with fondness the band member as a childish dream. The teeny bopper may occasionally smile when she hears news or keep tabs on the ENTIRE band of the band she used to love but it won't be the obsession it was when she was a teen. It's more like "let's catch up, what have you been doing." And not all of them are alike. The parents just have to survive it.
The most ridiculous thing I have ever seen though is when a band member is married and it is common knowlege and a girl holds up a sign that says "Marry me" and it has a married band member's name on it. Some girls like to dress alike they'll go out for a night and go for a theme.

don't know about the red tops but definately trying for backstage, also they might be trying to score the set list that bands tape to the ground to know what to play next, or drum sticks or old towels that the band leaves on the stage, if they get in with the guard early, they find him right after the concert, he hooks em up

They are flirting with the security because they want to get backstage. Maybe red was the bands favorite color.

They are sucking up to Security in order to try and get backstage.
As for the red tops, it could be a fan club, or they could have been friends and that was a way for them to keep track of each other, or it was just conincidence and the girls just thought that the red tank looked cute on them.

They probably just think they are very special and maybe can talk security into letting them go backstage to meat the band.
Maybe it works, but very obvious don't you think.

i had a roommate that did security at concerts. most of the time they would just try to butter him up to get backstage. they would offer him sex, money, or drugs to get to meet the band.

well, if the chicks were "appeling" to men, they were most likely flirting to get backstage. That is the power women have over men...boobs. O.o
