I don't think they pay your mortgage any more, but you will get about £62.00 a week but only if you are really unable to work.
Hope you get better soon.

Not much - around £64 a week. But you can claim income support. That will probably pay the interest on your mortgage. After some time off sick you go on to Incapacity benefit and the rate increases. You need expert advice. the benefits system is a minefield now. Ask you local council if they have a welfare rights department, same goes at the hospital. In fact a hospital welfare rights department is probably a better bet. Try the link below too.

This depends on your contribution record. Have you been in employment and paying Class 1 or Class 2 contributions at a minimum of the lower earnings limit in both tax years prior to the year of claim. If you want to claim now - this is the claim year which is a calendar year January - December. However the contribution year is a Tax year - April - March. Thus to make a claim for Contribution based Incapacity Benefit now, you would have to have actual paid contributions in both the tax years 2003 - 2004 & 2004 - 2005.
If you cannot meet that criteria, you may be entitled to Income Support in lieu of Incapacity Benefit.

Why ru unable to work in UK, due u have restrictions on yr passport or just that your grieving. See if your employer will give u leave to help cope with the death. To receive any help from the government towards your mortgage you need to unemployed for 39wks before receiving 50% help towards the interest on your mortgage & thats if you qualify. If you have mortgage protection check your policy does it pay for illness cos you'll then need to see your doctor for med certs

Check your mortgage, if you have payment protection and you are unable to work, you might be covered for your mortgage payments for a certain period of time - worthwhile checking to make sure.
You would probably get incapacity benefit - depending on why you are unable to work - which depending on your circumstances could be as little as £52.00 pr week
Check your mortgage details and phone the DSS - you dont have to leave your name, just remain anonoymous

Never enough.
Contact your mortgage supplier and ask for a break due to compassionate grounds. Most will allow you a small break.
