i own a repair shop,,and may be able to help you,,it sounds like it needs a real good tune up,,.new plugs,,and wires,,also a new fuel filter,,and have them do a computer scan on it,,it may have a oxygen sensor going bad on it,,this will make one run rough,,and idle bad,,all of this stuff is basically cheap to do,,the Scan they do will help determine if it has any bad sensors on it,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

Loose motor mounts are a common problem in Grand Ams. It makes them shake around alot when they idle, although, it should not make them stall...

these cars have alot of problems with the security system.the security chip in the lock cylinder goes bad. you will need a new lock cylinder.this shouldnt cause driveability problems though, just a no start condition.so i think you have a couple problems.probly the fuel pump.

Old battery?
Could be loose battery connection?
Could be old battery cables let moisture in and short out?
Could be old spark-plug wires arching.
(You can watch for this by running your motor in the dark with the hood up.. if it is arching, you'll see it flash.)
Could be water in your gasoline.
Could be old spark plugs.
Could be cracked distributor cap.
Could be worm out rotor in the distributor cap.
I'd start with giving the car a good tune up.

change fuel filter, may be plugged
change pcv valve, may need replacing ($10)
change oil if needed and filter
if that does not fix it, take to mechanic.other possibilities are catalytic converter plugged, wiring needs replacing, ignition sensor needs re-programming or replacing, etc.
