I need the best format for the best quality print.

I've always used JPG. That is save the file as a JPG file in Photoshop and then import it into word.

In word by the way, double click the images to change the settings, it's a more accurate way of keeping images equal sizes, and also offers different layout options for the way text interacts with the image. Ignore this bit if you knew it already.

.jpg is probably best.

For quality, I'd experiment with .bmp if you can.

Otherwise, .jpg is the way to go.
