What is the sales tax rate where you live?

In Michigan the sales tax is 6%. Sales tax in every state is one way the State Treasury makes money to fund things like new roads, public education, police officers, the list goes on and on. The other way the state makes money to pay for all that stuff is through income tax.

In Alabama our sales tax is 9%! It is supposed to go for schools and roads among other things but our schools are pretty bad and our roads worse. I am sure it is misused by those in power.

to places you will probably never see, its suppsto go to fixing the roads and to schools and such but unless the budget is worked out right you will never really know
