It's the water pressure filling the tank. Usually happens when the valve at the base (coming from wall) isn't open all the way or could be some build up from hard water. Does the sound come from the tank (take the tank lid off & Flush) or the pipe leading to the tank? Try turning the valve handle on the wall all the way to the left (open) till it won't turn. Do not turn with wrench - just by hand. Then flush it.

If your adventurous you could try and clean out the line and floater unit. If you shut off the water valve to the tank, flush it till you get as much of the water out as you can and mop the rest with a old towel. You can loosen & take off the the flexable pipe at the base of the tank. The the inside pipe and floater should come up and out. See if there is any build up or deposits in and around where the water comes into the unit. Clean it out the best you can (may have brown film or hard white deposits) then put the unit back inplace (make sure the rubber seals are back in place) and rehook up to the water line. Turn the water back on slowly (if you see any water, shut the valve and tighten connection). The tank will re-fill. Flush it, let it re-fill and flush again.

Now this may or may not work, Sorry to say. It may be where the floater arm connects to the intake and how the water fills the tank. You may end up replacing the floater/intake unit. They aren't that expensive and it's pretty much the same as I explained with trying to clean the lines. See if you know anyone handy to help. You don't need a new toilet and even if you do need a plumber it should be that hard for them

The washer that closes off the water supply when the toilet is full needs to be replaced. Find a name on the flush valve and buy a replacement washer or repair kit, No reason to replace anything other than that.

Try closing the water valve where the water feeds the tank a little bit at a time. This usually will stop the noise other wise yuo will need to replace the fill valve in the tank

Mine does that too.. I am thinking that it is a water pressure problem going to the tank to fill it up.. I am going to have my husband turn the water pressure up for me to get rid of my noise.. I don't know if you have a pressure tank or not..we live in a old farm house with a well.
call a plumber and ask what it is.. it don't cost anything to ask questions excepting to lawyers..
good luck..

I have no idea and I wouldn't want to sugesst anything that would make it worse. You could call a plumber that may cost you about 50 to 100. but a least you won't have to get a new toilet.
