Many nice answers were given. You should really remember that a resume is an extremely important part of your career strategy, because that is the paper that presents you to your potential employees. I saw different resumes in my life. Plenty of them. And to tell you the truth, young people quite seldom prepare attractive resumes. It requires time and experience. I saw professional resumes and CVs prepared by http://www.resumesexperts.com . Really nice service. And of course, there are many tips for writing resumes and you might really got use out of them.

Basically. a resume is an organized paper in a special format that has your name and contact info, education and special skills and work experience (related and un-related to the job you are applying to).

There are many different forms of resume styles--for example, someone applying for a teaching position would highlight different skills and experiences than someone applying for a business position. Check out Yahoo resume!

A resume is a brief personal history of ones self.
It should have your educational highlights.
It should have your work history and what your job title and duties were at each place of employment along with the dates employed.
And it can have a couple of person facts like hobbies and such.

It should not be too long winded.

A resume is just another word for CV(curriculum Vitae). This is where you write all your background education, experiences in work, hobby, age, martial statues, gender etc. & u submit it when you go out looking for jobs. Your boss will see your age, experience, and stuff and hire you if u are good enough for the job.

Also known as a curriculum vitae, or simply cv, it details your educational and employment history and lists your publications, professional memberships/certifications. It should also list seminars/conferences attended/chaired and any continuing education credits earned.
