he said that ships were not made to capsize like that, the ship would break into a million pieces if that were to reall y happen. Is he right?

I don't know. But the movie isn't really about the plausability of the ship staying in tact. It's about the drama that unfolds. Faith. Human condition. Great movie.

tell your uncle anything can happen. in the case of posiedon and having a huge wave flip a cruise liner over it definitely could happen because the sea is very unpredictable and some ships are built to handle stuff like that and some aren't. but the ships that go out into the middle of the sea should be built to handle that sort of thing because it is possible that a wave might hit and flip it

Yes it can happen, there was a show put on by National Geographic Channel that talked all about it. and in fact it happens more than you think, it said that about15 to 20 ships are lost each year to huge rouge waves like the one in the movie.
