I have had my savings with IngDirect for 3 yrs and I luv it. They have the best interest rate I could find, currently 4.35. Easy to send to and withdraw from, all online. They have 24 hour phone support who are smart and knowledgable. Only draw back is that they do not have checks, so you have to wait a couple of days when you make a withdrawal. They may even have checks now, but I prefer not to have them so I have to think it though before I withdraw any money.

I've had account for few years and had no problems. The 4 days to transfer money out of the account to the linked checking account is the only inconvenience I see. There are other companies that have higher interest rates. Consult the "Money" magazine listing of rates. I just went out and found one link http://www.money-rates.com/specials.htm that shows a couple names Emigrant Direct and Ever bank. I don't know anything about them.

I just got it, I got a letter in the mail and $25 from them to start an account at 4.35%.

See if you can get the free $25 for starting an account. I have not found anything bad about them yet, but I just started. I did look for bad things about them also.

Oh, and I am keeping my regular account at Wachovia because I get free checks and safe deposit box there.

no great advantage either. Depends how much money you are going to shift. It does require that you have a regular checking account to go between self and ING. Citibank has a similar on line deal.

its great, keeps the money out of your main account so your not tempted to use it but its linked to it so you can transfer easily if you need too. if you want a referal to give you $25 when you sign up let me know, you get $10 if the person you refer signs up.

no problems w/ ING.. directly linked to your checking like the others said.. so it's easy to transfer funds

only disadvantage (if you can call it that) is it takes usually at least a day for funds to transfer

4.35% APY at the moment..

I LOVE it! It's so easy to transfer money back and forth and watch your interest grow. I've had my account for almost 2 years and have had no problems.
