I have asked my dr, and she said it is fine. And also the book the dr's office gave me said it was safe. My sister in law is a stylist and she does my hair and she has a lot of pregnant women that come into her shop and get their hair done. I was skeptical at first like you. I did a lot of research on the subject and decided that it would be fine. So I got mine done a few weeks ago. And so far so good. Hope this helped , and good luck with the baby.

Hair dye is absorbed through your scalp. No tests have confirmed that this is completely safe or unsafe for your unborn child. The best compromise is to get highlights, where the dye doesn't touch your scalp, or to explain your situation to your hair dye person and ask if they can avoid putting the dye on your roots. Of course, your roots will show sooner if you have a full hair dye and not just highlights, but that is a small price to pay for the peace of mind that you are not risking your baby's safety.

Nowadays, the chemicals in hair dyes are so mild & I was told by my obgyn that it WILL NOT harm the baby. The only problem you may run into is that your body chemistry is changing by the minute & it could affect the way your hair reacts to the dye ... it may not deposit or lift as well, and you may be unhappy with the results. I was told to wait a couple of months (although I didn't and mine came out fine!). I have done it about every 4-6 weeks with normal results. Take care of yourself & it will be fine!

So long as you aren't drinking the dye, it should be fine. Considering that if you live in any major city, you're breathing in ten times the amount of filth even the most piglike peasant in 8th century England ever encountered, a little hair dye probably isn't going to hurt much.

You should not dye your hair in the first or second trimester, this is when the baby is forming the most. If any time it would be the last trimester. No hair dresser will dye your hair in the first or second if they know you are pregnant. I would advise not to.

I did it once I was out of my 1st trimester. My hair stylist is a one of my best friends and she dyed her hair throughtout her pregnancy. She asked around about this and she was told that the chemicals they use now a days aren't as potent as they used to be. But to be on the safe side just wait til your about 3 months.
Once I hit the second trimester I was doing everything to my hair. Even my doc told me it was ok.
Good Luck!

I was wondering the same thing. I am only six weeks pregnant.. and holding the dying my hair thing off, until I am certain it won't harm my baby. My hair looks just gross! lol.. but I'd rather my baby be safe. I can wait two more weeks until I see my doctor, she will know best!

No, it will not harm you or your baby-to-be. What sort of nut, by the way, would dye their hair "24/7"??? I'd avoid that character if I were you - she hasn't got all her ducks in a row.

I heard it's best to not do it during your first trimester. But I dyed my hair all thru my pregnancy starting my 2nd trimester and my baby girl turned out perfect. So go for it.
