Here's what:

-- Eventually over a trillion dollars wasted.
-- 2600 dead and counting.
-- MANY more disabled.
-- 100,000 INNOCENT CIVILIANS dead.
-- America has lost respect in the world.
This matters!
-- The Middle East has been upended, and they have more reason to resent us.
-- We are LESS secure, not more!

Now, paranoid rightists, prove you're unfit to even have an opinion by responding with contemptuous non-sequitur, like you usually do.

Look how the warmongers justify the death of civilians by denying that there's any such thign as an innocent non-combatant! They ALL carry guns or make improvised roadside bombs. No, no women or children died at all! Thank you for setting the record straight, O Right Wing Paragons! You ""pro-life moralists!

If anyone thinks that only the terrorists are upset with us, they are grotesquely ignorant. More accurate to say that EVERYBODY hates us there.

You're pretty much summed it up.

What it can get us, tho, is a new birth of freedom. Let our dead and Iraqs dead not have died in vain. Let us honor their lost lives by rededicating ourselves to the true meaning of our creed in America. Let's honor their lost lives by reclaiming our republic from the mass murdering bush crime family and its henchmen.

Let's honor their lost lives by re-learning what we thought we learned through Vietnam - that your government will send you to kill innocent people so that a few guys can make a lot of money and it will be dressed up as self-defense or a crusade.

Let's honor their lost lives by at least seeing clearly and calling BS BS, even when it oozes forth from the mouth of the holy antichrist, bush.

Your answer was the best, but there were some other good answer that added good points.

I like to identify the problem as precisely as possible then the answer is usually apparent.

Clinton moved this nation to the highest point I have ever seen. The problem now is that we should have been able to keep him in office forever, as long as he did a good job. Hope Hillery will be our next president if we last that long because we will get a great first gentleman.

Most Republicans I talk with like to identify with big money even tho most don't have big money and don't usually have a clue what it's all about. The Republicans like to think of themselves as conservative and really don't know more than this. I want a party to be conservative about somethings and liberal about others. Being just one or the other is the height of stupidity.

So what can we do ... keep our cool, educate the voters, try to change the law so the president can't just declare himself above the law and allow a president to serve as many terms as possible if he is doing a good job.

If things are not going well like now, have new elections when deemed necessary.

If we can truly understand any problem, the solution will usually be evident.

-- It's not wasted if it accomplished it's goal
-- The smallest number of casualties in any major conflict in American History. Less than the number of innocent men and women killed on 9/11
-- 100,000 number can not be verified. ESTIMATES range from 10,000 to 100,000. But since terrorists do not wear uniforms, we will never know how many were terrorists, and how many were innocent.
-- In the short term, yes, in the long run has yet to be seen.
-- It has been upended, that's a good thing. Only the ones that already hated us resent us.
-- We are more secure. No terrorist attacks since 9/11. Saddam can not pay suicide bombers $25K anymore. Saddam can not make more WMD and use them himself, or give them to terrorists.

Some stats you didn't mention:
-- 50 million humans free from tyrannical governments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
-- 2 countries in the middle east with Democratically elected governments.
-- 1 member of the "Axis of Evil" has been neutralized.

Put aside your hatred and look at things objectively.

Well USA did not have very good understanding of Muslims. They thought they would eliminate Saddam who was a threat at that time as he was openly America hater and gain sympathy from muslim world specially the oppressed Shias. Look what happened the Shias in Iraq support Hizbollah and Iran and hate America.
The Muslims throughout the history have bben like that. They would kill their brother to achieve their mission. Have you seen muslims praying in mosques with their weapons beside them; get out of mosques and kill more people.
Their religion is not so deep or philosiphical and not about spirituality at all. So that is why you would see muslims are quite violent natured in every country or get quite violent for any little issue.
So Iraq war or Iran war would not give any thing in real terms which you can call gain. We just have to keep such regimes contained and if they flex muscles and try to harm our interests; got to fight them.
So Saddam was just a beginning; we would see much more in the coming years as these Islamic regimes are flexing muscle with the heat of increased Petro Dollars.

Hmmmm, lets see...
- There have not been additional acts of terror here in the US since we began our assult. By focusing on taking the war to their territory, the US has been safe.
- The "people" of Iran (not the gov't or the gov't controlled media there) really respect us because we did what we said we would do. This aligns with their cultural beliefs.
- 2600 deaths is UNBELIEVABLY traggic, but we are doing it via a volunteer military and continue to have strong recruiting results. Therefore, we have proven that our commitment to freedom is still high.
- 100,000 inocents dead is a random figure. Does this include the terrorists which focus on blowing-up women and children? No one will argue that our efforts have kept civilians completely safe (its war), but our targets have been selected to be strategic and have military significance. I ask you to defend our enemies on those grounds.
- Only the media has lost respect for the US, well I guess along those who have not studied much history and regional research.
- Yes, the radical elements of the middle east have been upended. I'm sure they resent us, but they already did before this began and will continue regardless of what we do.

YES, I agree with you, we are less secure. But if you think it is because of our actions, you might need to do more research. We've been on this path LONG before any military action took place. Long before PResident Bush took office. Think of the captives during the Carter administration. It existed long before that as well.
As long as leaders oppress their people, degrade women, use terror tactics to bring fear to people they are trying to control, I pray that countries like the US and our allies will continue to stand up in protest.

Sadam was an evil man killing and starving his own people. Eventually using a corrupt United Nations to sell oil for his own greed. Sadam was an instigator of wars and problems in the middle east which spill over to affect us. He killed and tortured hundreds of thousands and supported all who hated the United States. The world will benefit for the fall of Sadam and the people of Iraq will eventually embrace peace and democracy.

Think about it, if we just wanted the oil we could have taken Kuwait, or Canada. We did not have to fight the worlds 3 largest army for oil. We were already in Kuwait.

stats are stats--- just add your OPINION after you quote them, and ignorant sheep will believe whatever you tell them to.

one of you stats is off, insurgents and terrorists are not civilians.

if freeing a country ruled and terrorized by a tyrannical ruler loses us the respect of those who would rather turn their backs and hope it never spills onto their soil, so be it. if anything, actions taken have earned us the reputation of not being the ones to mess with. if some cowards somehow translate that as imperialism and reaching for global domination, they can stew in their own ignorance.

lastly, i hope you are not from America, because you contribute to our worst stereotype---"what's in it for me?" "i know Iraqis were being killed by their leader and forced by an oil-rich nation to live in famine and poverty, but if America is going to take an action, WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF IT?" thanks for your warm thoughts to our soldiers that they need to find a way for their sacrifices to benefit you.

also, thanks for your last sentence where, after expressing your opinion, you stress that since others don't agree with you, they are not entitled to an opinion at all. typical open-minded, tolerant liberal.

Can you classify what a civilian is?

Is it a person who is a farmer by day and ak47 carrier at night?

Or is someone who just fires the ak47 wearing civilian clothes. Or do you believe that only UNIFORMED men women and CHILDREN can fire their ak47's? That the rifle wont work without a uniform behind it?

and you are UNINFORMED

You assume that the Iraq war was for the benefit of the American people. WRONG. We were not factored into the mix, only to be lied to so the powers that be could successfully bankroll the project.

Ever since WWII, America has known that war is good politics and big money.
