Just seems to me that a baby two months early would not be that heavy. But is it possible?

If a baby is early the development of the lungs is the biggest indicator. At two months early it would almost certainly have breathing problems. It could still weigh that much if it was heading for being a 10 or 12 pounder (which does happen), but it is more likely otherwise, that the date was off.

Sure is. It'd be a rainy day on the moon for them to miscalculate a due date by over two months, its more likely that the baby was a fast developer, and would have been a very large newborn if carried to term.

Sure it's possible. Most babies in my family weigh a lot. I was almost 9 lbs, my nephew was 9 lbs 7 oz and my cousin just had a baby last month and she weighed 9 lbs 11 oz. So if someone in my family had a baby two months early chances are the baby would weigh about 6 lbs.

If the mother had gestational diabetes or some other condition that would cause her to have high blood sugar during her pregnancy, the baby could be large early. It is not impossible that her due date was calculated correctly and the baby would have been very large if born on the due date.

Yeah, I'd say there may have been a slight miscalculation because that's a big baby to be like 8 weeks premature. That baby would be like 14 lbs at term!!

Your due date is just a calculation off of the last time you got your period. It is possible that you had your period for a month or two of your pregnancy, so it is definitely possible that they miscalculated and you were actually farther along than they thought.

It is almost a certainty that the due date was miscalculated. Who made that initial calculation and why was not the error discovered months earlier, as it should have been?

I believe it was miscalculated. Like the last 4 weeks its like a lb. a week you gain and your talking 8 weeks. I don't think it possible.
