Go to the the Format menu, click "Paragraph," then in "Line Spacing" (under "Indents and Spacing") select "Double."

If you already have typed up the paper, then select the whole thing before you follow the above instructions.

"Double-spaced" means the lines have one space between them in your paper.

What word processing program are you using? Most programs would have this function under "formatting"; paragraph; choose double spaced.

If you can't figure it out, go to the help and type in double spacing and look at the results.

If you are really under the gun and don't have time for research, go to the end of every line and click enter and manually put an extra space between each line.

This is standard for papers to provide teacher room for comments and corrections.

Text format, when you choose Save As there should be a drop-down box that allows the format you want to save the document in -- the extension is usually .txt

Hope this helps.

Double spaced means that there is an empty line (enough space for a line of type) between each line of text. Go into Word and look for the icon on the toolbar that has 4 horizontal lines, representing lines of text, with up and down arrows next to them. When you move your cursor over this it will list choices (1,1.5...). Pick 2. Now your whole document will be double spaced. You may want to do this after you've put your header at the top with your name, etc. If you don't see the icon, click on the right end of the toolbar to reveal the rest of the icons. If you haven't used it before, its often hidden. I would do the whole document and save it as a Word document and only then save it as a text file to send to your prof.

In MS Word, double-spacing is handled as a paragraph formatting item. So, if you've already placed text in your document, highlight that text.

In Word, go to the 'Format' menu and choose 'Paragraph.'
Then, in the indents and spacing tab, look in the spacing section. Change linespacing from single to double.

What this does is seperates each line in your document from eachother a little more.

If you are using MS Word, simply go to your Format tab, select Paragraph, then where it says "Line Spacing", change it from Single to Double (or 1 line to 2). This will automatically format you paper for you as you type.

In your word processor, you should have a formatting menu. Select your text, click on this menu, and select paragraph then double spaced. Also!!! if he wants it in a text format, when you go to save, click save as, and under save as type, select plain text. This allows him to open it on any computer with or without your word processor.
