ODSP is based on having a disability that prevents you from earning a living. If you are still paying rent and utilites it shouldn't have much effect. the trick is to split everything in half and treat it as a joint tenancy as opposed to a common-law situation.

Best of luck with this.

This program provides financial assistance to eligible people with disabilities. To meet the requirements, you must:

* be 18 years of age or older,
* qualify financially, and
* have a substantial physical or mental impairment that is continuous or recurrent and is expected to last one year or more.

If you meet these requirements, you may qualify for ODSP Income Support.

For more information, see the ODSP Handbook.

Do you meet any of these requirements? I'd suggest your read this handbook.

If you are not preporting your change in circumstances you can be charged with fraud. You should report his earnings and they will tell you have it is effected. His earnings will come off at a rate of 50% So if he nets 1000.00 per month 500.00 will be deducted from your ODSP cheque.

In our case we were advised that I would have to pay out a $100 a month tenant fee to not have it affect her check. It would be deducted off her check whether I had $100 a month or not as long as I was residing with her. I do recommend that you contact your caseworker and talk it out with him/her. They can advise you of the best route to take. If you ignore it or hide it then they can charge you with fraud and that would not be good. Best of luck
