Ears have been pierced eight weeks and need to play two volleyball games totaling two hours, and no jewelry allowed. Need tips on inserting plastic ear protectors or other ideas to keep holes from closing.

It depends on where you got them pierced. If it is just the traditional ear piercing (ear lobes), then for 6 monthes after the initial 6 week period you should not go 24 hours without them. you should be fine just to have them out for a couple hours. As long as you remember to put them back in as soon as you can so you can have a better chance of them going in easier. Remember to clean the earrings before you put them back in too...its not worth getting a nasty ear infection because you didn't clean you earrings. But if you got your cartalidge pierced you shouldn't go without earrings in at all for atleast 7 1/2 monthes after you got them pierced (36 weeks). After the initial 12 week period, you should wait 6 more months to be able to go without earrings at all... But since you said you only had to go through a 6 week period then I assume you weren't talking about your cartalidge.

I had my ears pierced 29 years ago. I wear earrings MAYBE a hand full of times per year. The holes are still there. I highly doubt that your holes will close up in two hours. Just be sure to use an antiseptic before placing the posts back in just for good measure.

If your ears have been pierced for 8 weeks, the holes will not close up if you leave the earrings out for a few hours here or there.

If you only take them out before the game then put them right back in, you'll be fine. I didn't wear earrings for a long time and my holes never closed.

-It very much depends on your skin and healing type.

My holes are open 44 odd years later, my daughter's on the other hand closed over after only only one day.

I shouldn't worry. If it closes, it will only be a thin membrane over the hole at worst. A a quick prod - rather like picking a spot with a sterilized earring- will do the trick

Go to a piercing and tattoo shop and they can (sell ) you plugs for your ears that no one will be able to see. Clear plastic plugs. They say six weeks, but for you to actually take out your earring with out them closing up it is 6 months. I have my ears pierced my tongue, and i have 9 tattoos. I know what im talking about.

You will be fine if you take them out right before you warm up. They will not close up that fast.

They shouldn't close up after a couple hours. I wouldn't worry about it.
