report it because of shame that it brings to her and her family. Do you think this is the right thing she should do? Is it hard to get over it for rape victims?

It is true. Some women are afraid to report it to the police out of shame and fear. Reporting to the police is the right thing to do. Victims should remember that it's not their fault. Many rape victims do have a hard time getting over it, and some may need extensive therapy. A victim of rape should IMMEDIATELY report it to the police. Don't clean up or bathe until the rape test kit is complete. Semen or saliva or other fluids or tissues (evidence) from the rapist may be washed away.
Prevention is the best cure. Learn self defense. Practice personal safety. When walking alone, be aware of your surroundings. Carry mace on a key chain and have that in your hand as you walk. Keep your doors locked and install a peephole. Women who walk alone or jog alone would do well to even get a large dog as a pet and running partner. Check your local police station or sheriff's office. Many have classes that are free of charge that educate people in rape prevention.

I don't think it's difficult to report a rape now, but 20 or 30 years ago it was. There was very little support for the victim then and there was a tendency to blame the victim for the crime. Women who reported a rape were sometimes subjected to being "raped" again by the police and others in authority. Now, I do not think that is so much the case.

Not all rape is comes from brutal stranger in a dark alleyway. Most women are raped by people they know and trust, like a date, a boyfriend, or even a husband, friend or family member! There are many reasons why many women do not report being raped, but in situations like these that are not as "obvious" as an "alleyway rape", I believe some might not report it simply because they think no one will believe them, or worse, that people will make it seem like they asked for it or wanted it, then they are victimized all over again!

They may feel shame but by all means report it. They need to get that demon-incarnate off the streets; he won't stop with just you or the one you're referring to.

It was not the Woman's fault for getting raped; he was thinking with the wrong head! "The road from inner turmoil begins with a friendly ear...Mine's open if you care to use it."

Rape isn't just about sex, It's about power. Playing Devil's Advocate it would give me an intense sense of satisfaction to know that i have that much control over you if I was responsible (I'm not!).

not a victium how ever if you do the right think your hole body is exposed to photographes and you get drilled with all those questions.. i can't say it's easy i can't say i would let someone take photos of my privete parts! I just am not down with that even if it would put the guy behind bars once something like that happends to me the law will not apply! I will go to jail and i don't care! I will stand up for my self... i won't kill the guy either but he will wish he were!
If something like that happends to me i don't think i would feel shamed or look down upon i think i would be extreamly ticked off after i cried...
but yes it is hard to get over i mean someone is violating you not your stuff YOU and in a privete way!
it sucks when someone steps on your toe! but that yeah is easy to get over but if someone stuck something inside of your mouth with there dirty nose picking hands and ball scratching plans wouldn't you want to brush your teeth?
no times that by 10 or maybe even 100 i'm sure it's not an easy task!
Mad luv

Women who are "voilated" have a very hard time getting over it. It "despoils" them, into thinking they are useless and worthless and that they "did something" to bring on the attack.

They suffer from a lack of esteem, as the attacker has taken away "soemething" from them, and they have to work for years to get "it" back.

Thier life is ripped apart, and the shame that they confront is horrendous to them, and they compound it, by being silent, and let the rapist do thier evil deeds to more victims, thus componding the problem at times.

It take a very sick individual to perpetrate this crime against a woman, and they dont really understand what they 'take' from them, when they get thier sick satisfaction off of the woman, who is often scarred for life.

I wish you well..

Jesse

Think about how annoyed you get when someone taps you on the shoulder or someone just doing something you don't like, now think about someone raping you, and then having to relive it all over again does that sound easy?

yes it's hard for raped women to tell their story...if you got raped wouldn't it be very hard for you to deal with? and no it doesn't bring shame upon them or their family because it's not like they chose to get raped. it wasn't their fault. they're just scared.

Yes, it is a horribly traumatic experience. Remember that rape isn't about sex, it's about power and humiliation. So, the damage isn't just physical, it's mental and emotional too.
