It should be the coach's call, but that is pretty lame. I remember when the entire mexican team ran off the field after we beat them in World Cup 2002 without shaking hands. I thought it was a pretty weak gesture and I'm sorry to see a team from my country acting the same way.
Congrats to Greece, all the best against Spain.

I've been saying for the last 10 years that the quality of play in the NBA is getting worse all the time...
And yes, the rest of the world's teams are indeed getting better... but if our players would only get better as well, there'd be no way anyone in the world could beat us. But our players are getting worse...that's why the world caught up to us so quickly.
The way these teams that beat us play the game is the same way our boys played the game in the 50, 60 and 70s...and now these teams are taking that style of play and using it against us.
So, all you kids out there who keep talking about how great our NBA players are, let this be a lesson to you...there's a right way and a wrong way to play this game... we're playing it the wrong way.
It would be nice if this debacle would end the talk about "Coach K" being the greatest coach ever... because he's not even close... John Wooden was the greatest coach ever, and "Coach K" will never approach that level.
And none of these guys will ever approach the level of a Russell, Chamberlain, Jabbar, Magic, Bird, Oscar, or even Jordan... not to mention Reed, Cowens, Havlicek, Barkley, Malone (Moses AND Karl), etc etc...
Basketball is going downhill fast in the U.S... but hey, at least kids today can own a pair of $160 sneakers with the same design as these turkeys wear on NBA courts.
Tell these NBA guys to learn how to play the d*** game!!
Oh yeah, almost forgot... congratulations to the boys from Greece...good luck the rest of the way.

The American team should be ashamed as far as I'm concerned. The spirit is to cheer the winner. Maybe the losers should be .......They suck. Congratulations to the Greek players.

That's typical of the "me, me, me" behavior too prevalent in the NBA. I know that it was probably a shock to lose, and I'm sure they didn't enjoy watching Greece celebrate, but that's no reason to be sore losers.
Americans love to celebrate victories as much as anyone, but they should take losses as well as they take those victories. I'm not sure that I would ban them from playing in Beijing, but I do think that they need to be told that such behavior is unacceptable. Of course, I don't know if that would do any good...

i dIdn't watch it, but if its true what ur saying then they sure are "LOSERS". Im just curious to know, who did stay on the floor to congratulate the winning team?
to answer ur question, i don't think they r forced to congratulate the opposing team so yes they should play, but of course it wouldve been nice & it would've said a lot 'bout 'em.

That figures. What an example those guys are. Our NBA players don't know the fundamentals of baskeball, that's why they got beat. All they know is street-ball. If I was Coach K I'd sit all the players who didn't shake hands and not let them play at all!

certain. even with the reality that now that is over 600 million money. If a squirrel is prepared to position down some money for some tickets, then the squirrel must have an equivalent shot on the jackpot. honest is honest.

Hurrah to everyone. We all recognize the attitudes that these NBA players have and how they are terrible examples for everyone. I would like to have people come back to the sport that have love for the game, not the $$$.
