Readability score: Based on average number of syllables per word and the average number of words per sentence.

Passive Sentences: Provides the ratio of passive sentences over active sentences.

Flesch Reading Ease rates text on a 100-point scale based on the average number of syllables per word and words per sentence, and is determined by the formula:
FRE = 206.835 - (1.015 x ASL) - (84.6 x ASW)
where:
FRE : Flesch Reading Ease readability score
ASL : average sentence length in words or average number of words in sentence (number of words divided by the number of sentences)
ASW : average syllables per word (the number of syllables divided by the number of words)

Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level rates text on a U.S. grade-school level based on the average number of syllables per word and words per sentence. Determined by the formula:

FKGL = (0.39 x ASL) + (11.8 x ASW) - 15.59
where:
FKRS : Flesch-Kincaid Readability Score
ASL : average sentence length in words or average number of words in sentence (number of words divided by the number of sentences)
ASW : average number of syllables per word (the number of syllables divided by the number of words)

They give you a rough idea of the minimum grade level someone would have to be in order to understand what you wrote. The higher the grade level does NOT mean the piece is better; just more difficult to understand.

Otherwise, the numbers should all be self-explanatory. But keep this guideline in mind: usually no more than about 20 words per sentence, and about 80 words per paragraph.
