If you can afford to... go to a spa.
If you can't, go to a school... I'm sure there is one near you.
If not, get your fiance or a girlfriend to help you.

Still doing it yourself? OK...

Well, make sure you do it at least 2 days before the wedding. (in case you are red!)

Next, definitely exfoliate the area, but not so much that it is sensitive.

Then apply a tiny bit of powder before putting on the wax. ( baby powder, baking soda, etc..) This will help the wax go on nicely.

Make sure you are comfortable when waxing. Yes, apply in the direction of hair growth (not a supper big deal if you accidentially don't)

Once the strip is over the wax, make sure that you really press over it a few times. Before you pull off, make sure that your skin is tight. Put a hand below where you are about to pull in order to make it tighter. Less pain!!

Hmm... when waxing your bikini area make sure that you have a face cloth in the freezer. This area tends to be a bit more sensitive and the blood comes to the surface quicker. When your body heats up quickly it can be harder to get the wax off. If this happens put the cold cloth over the wax strip to cool it down.

As soon as you know that you are done waxing an area apply an oil asap. This will calm down the area and remove any left over wax. Baby oil, extra virgin olive oil, etc... If you have lavender essential oil add a few drops to the oil, it is cooling.

If you get wax on your kitchen floor (usually where I wax!) use the olive oil to get it off easily!

Ingrown hairs.... they probably won't show up for about a week. When this happens just put a warm cloth on them ( to open up the folicle ) then remove the hair with tweezers.

You must exfoliate the area very well before you wax, like for a couple of days before you want to wax. As for calming pain, as soon as you have ripped the wax strip off, press the palm of your hand over the waxed area, it takes the sting away. If you do get an ingrown hair, get a bottle of surgical spirit and dab a tiny amount with a cotton bud on the spot, it drys it out and the hair can then be pulled out. Or you could try some "after-shave balm",the men's product they use after shaving as that can soothe the skin and help with healing.

I would probably to go to a professional and have it done. It might cost a little more money, but they know what they are doing. Call them first and ask if there is anything specific you should do before you go in. I always get my eyebrows waxed, which I know is different hair, but it always comes out nice and does not cause any problems. Good luck with your wedding.

Do not wax. Get a Epi slim razor,It pulls the hair out without any irritation and it takes longer to grow back. Use it on your biniki area and your mustache for sure,No reddness or irritation.Just shave your pitts...Plus they have this hand size pen looking shaver for your face.It is called Finishing Touch. It does not grow back thicker or darker and it is fast and easy with no reddness or irritation. I have used both of these for years.Waxing is out of date and was never all that good to use.You can find them at any Walmart,Meyers,Hudson, and Sears. Good luck with your wedding.

I read somewhere that you should never do anything "new" to your beauty routine before an important event....like a wedding! If it goes bad...you are screwed! Watch the movie "The Wedding Planner" and pay attention to the part where a girl used fake tanner a few days before her wedding and turned bright orange!!! I would just recommend that you shave everything like you always do! Otherwise, if you are hell-bent on having it done....go to a professional! Good luck! And congrats!!!

ingrown hairs are common with people that shave etc. your right the underarm hair does grow in different directions and you need to apply the wax in the area where majority of hairs are facing this way majority of hairs will come out however those that fail to come out should be tweezed out not reapplied with wax. work in sections with wax.

for ingrown hair use tweezers to force the hair out as leaving it can cause infections

A good trick to prevent ingrown hairs is to exfoliate really well beforehand. To soothe the skin after waxing use men's after-shave gel/balm.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.
