I have a lace bolero that I was planning on wearing with my diamond white wedding gown, however the bolero's color is off, and looks slightly ivory against the white dress. It is made of lace, tool/mesh, and beading and I was wondering if there is any way to bleach or lighten it to make it white-white.

dont bleach it unless the bleach is really diluted, it will eat at the lace and it will fall apart

This is MUCH safer than bleach. Get Dove Dish washing liquid and Clorox 2 Non-Chlorine bleach (powder) it's in a blue box and 1/2 cup Dove dish washing liquid and 1/2 cup Clorox 2 for every gallon of water. Make sure the water is hot not boiling. I fill the sink with hot water and add the Dove and Clorox 2 making sure the Clorox 2 powder is dissolved. I put in my lace and swirl around a bit, then I let it sit over night. This works so good I use it on everything especially baby clothe works wonderful gets the stains out every time. I got an antique lace table cloth from my grandmother who's grandmother gave it to her. It was so beautiful but it was yellow and dingy I put it in the Dove liquid and Clorox 2 came out white as snow. I showed g-ma and she said she always thought it was yellow. Congratulation on your wedding.

White lace can be bleached but because of the beading i would recomend a gentle cycle. Or you could take it to a dry cleaners and say you want the whole top to be brighter and whiter and they can do it for you as long as the beads are'nt glued on.

I wouldn't!! The bleach may melt the beading or mesh. Try hanging it outside on a very sunny day instead. (remember to flip it so both sides get exposure to the sun)

If this item is cotton lace, soaking it is lightly bleached water will not hurt it. Is the original color white or off-white? If it is not originally pure white, I wouldn't play with it.
