For all of you english majors out there, is it more important in a forum such as Yahoo!Answers to use proper english, or voice? Personally, I like to use voice...it is informal, and gets my point across...what do you think?

Informal communications is fine. A happy thing really.

It is not always necessary that each sentence be precisely structured such that the grammatical constraints, of which this sentence is an illustrative example, are fully obeyed.

But while informal is good, incoherent is bad.

AS i quickly go through and answer questions it is not important to me the grammatical correctness or spelling of my answers .
THIS often leads to people who critique my answer from the standpoint of its forum rather then function .
I call them privetly the yahoo grammer police and are as un welcomed as a cop in the rear-view mirror when travelling . POINT is the people only slow down for a short time and the back up to 80-85 no matter what .
THOSE who conform to all the rules are boring and should be taken out of the misery of thier correct little lives .NO running I run .NO diving I dive .QUITE hospital zone is cool and slow down for kids ok .NO swimming after dark well thats just not going to happen . I can not stand by and let a few rules stand in the way of my doing as I please . YOU have to learn your limits .
I have limited spelling skills and my sentance structure needs much mechanical and grammatical improvement if you believe what these people say .
I think i get my point accross and thats what matters to me .
THIS is not a graded exercise or done for that purpose so for anyone else reading this get a life and quit critiqueing my answers . BY the way thank you

I have to admit I'm pretty guilty of picking on grammar.
I just feel like a lot of the questions in the political section are carrying some serious weight, and at the very least should be well-presented. It's very hard for me to take a written argument seriously when little attention is given to detail; they need to be accurate - both factually and grammatically.

Different situations call for different writing styles. I prefer to use grammar. Voice is OK if properly used.
I don't like when people use poor spelling and/or punctuation if it's not intended. Makes them seem foolish.

Voice...English majors/teachers will always look at grammar...but as the president has illustrated you don't need correct grammar to get your message out...you need to use a voice that your audience likes...it's all about selling the message

Grammar by far. Poor grammar reflects badly on the writer.
