sounds like U either got water in the engine, which is not good, or just water in the exhaust, hope for the latter
check the oil and see if its a creamy color that can be an indicator of water in the oil/ engine if it has then get the oil changed and let the car run till all the water has cooked off,run at low revs, when it stops smoking, change the oil and filter again
to get all the water out of the exhaust, just let the car run, so the exhaust heats up and the water evaporates
next time U go though a flood, keep the engine rev high, and go very slowly, use Ur clutch to do this, the high rev will keep the water out of the exhaust stopping the car from stalling

Steam from the water...if the smoke dissipates quickly it's just steam.
But I would get some WD-40 and spray it on your electrical system and wires under the hood.
It may smoke some but it will displace the water and you should not have the problem with it stalling out.
Probably would recommend tune-up ASAP
It is very dangerous to go through water over road ..you never know whats underneath it all.
If you get stuck and there's a washout you could be on the receiving end of some emergency assistance or a body bag.

Your car pulled water into the engine. Be glad that your engine hasnt seized up. You need to let it dry out. Keep AAA's number on had because it could still seize if you run it with water inside it. Be careful and stay off the highway till you get this fixed. I would recommend going to your BMW dealership and have them check it out (If youre under warrenty). Otherwise take it to a garage if youre not very automotive saavy.

Your Air filter might have got wet not allowing enough air into the engine. Try to dry it out completely ore more simple just change it. When I had problems with the emissions from my car it helped.

I have but would definitely for a slice of that homemade chocolate cake. I had done that for very short distances but it was too hot for the snakes & no bugs either.
