Arrogance is the "OVERKILL" of confidence.

That is a very poignant question right there. I've never been able to tell the difference, personally, but I think arrogance is an interpretation people use when confidence of another person trods on their own, and threatens their self-esteem. Then the word arrogance is applied.

When you are confident of doing or achieving something, as for example doing a test paper, you are pretty well-prepared and can handle it with ease and efficiency.

Whereas, when you are not ready for it but keep boasting
that what you are about to face is a child's play, and at the same time keep undermining the ability of others around, that shows you are pretty arrogant!

Confidence is knowing u can do whatever you put your mind to and even if you do not succeed u still press on.

Arrogance is not taking the time to see why you did not succeed. Or worse yet never acknowledging that u did not.

Arrogance is an unpleasant trait.
A confident person would walk into a room and smile.
An arrogant person would walk into a room and start bragging to all and sundry about their achievements.

Take the example of me and my eldest brother vs. the middle brother.

Me and the eldest can't do anything properly. We're half-assed at everything, we lazy, we drink too much and yet we absolutely LOVE ourselves. We genuinely believe that we're better than everyone else. That would be arrogance.

The middle brother does everything properly. He takes classes in stuff he already knows how to do to make sure he can do them perfectly. He tries new things all the time. Everybody loves him. He's a bit shy, but comes out of his shell when the time is right because he knows in the back of his mind he's got nothing to worry about. That's confidence.

Guess which is more fun?

Confidence: You know you look good
Arrogance: You tell other people you look good

Confidence is keeping it to your self, and arrogance is sharing it with the world.

Confidence could be saying, "I am good at my job". Arrogance could be saying, "I am better at my job than anyone else".

Confidence: "I'm a pretty good looking person".
Arrogance: "I'm too good looking to talk to certain people".

Could just be a matter of perception. for instance, you have the confidence to ask your boss for a raise. Your cheapo boss believes that you have the arrogance to ask him for something he is unwilling to give.

So, I bet this question has no definitive answer
