Congratulations from an American. Greece is apparently the nation of slaying sports giants. First Euro 2004 now giving US Basketball a good whooping. Nice work!

There is something I want to say to Alloy Boy: The Greeks who live in USA ,Canada, Australia or wherever feel more Greek than us (I live in Greece).I know that because my father grown up in Melbourne and as he has told me many times , he never felt Australian.I have still relatives there (3rd generation now) and they say that they are Greeks and not Australians. That is what happens in all over the world with Greek people. We are really very proud, not just for our past but for our present too!
@ Otis T : Greek basketball team is not something new.Last year we took the Europe Cup ,something that has happened in 1987 again. From 1987 up to 2005,Greek teams like Olympiakos, Panathinaikos etc have taken the Euro Cup many times.Greece is a traditional force of european basketball. We have also good volleyball and in Olympic games we take medals every year. And just think of this:we are only 10 million! But thank you anyway !

i've always been wary of single elimination games since a more superior team can have an off night and lose....given the less accurate shooting percentages of the usa team their loss of only 6 points was an indication of their superior talent...they were outshot 62 to 50 percent and only sank 59% from the free throw line...i really think fiba should change the single elimination format for the semis and finals so fluke winners would be more far-fetched...best of three would make the americans probable winners in their recent losses in the international scene

The Americans embarrassed themselves, the NBA, their country and the basketball community (inner city/suburbs/rural/urban).
Also go eat a pita sandwich.
