Something deeper is going on with her that she's not telling you that's making her not want to go home or be alone. Invite her over on a day, like a Saturday or Sunday, early afternoon and make her open up to you and tell you what's REALLY going on. After she gets it off her chest, you're open to let her know-"talk to me from now on. Don't come over and lay up on my couch." If her behavior doesn't change after that, then she's just really taking advantage of your friendship and generosity and you need to kick her to the curb. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

You can try the following....
Be direct and tell her that you and your husband are going to call it a night.
Ask her how she plans to get home, whether you need to call a taxi.
A little before you want to wind up you can ask her about how far she stays, how does she commute, how she plans to get back home etc.
Tell her to call you once she reaches home, that would indicate that you care.
Tell her its been a long day and you have an early start.
Go and change into night clothes and then walk her to the door.
Feign yawns, stretches and other signs that indicate you're sleepy.
Dicuss your daily routines towards the end of the party/get together. Talk about what time you wake up/sleep and your pre-sleep routine etc...and actually go ahead and brush or something that tells her you're getting ready for bed.

I would just come straight out and tell my friend that on these days m-w-f- my husband and I have to be to work and we would like to get to bed these nights or please have some consideration for our love life and if that don't work just come straight out and tell her and she is a real friend she will understand and if not the hell with her.

making subtle hints obviously didnt work. the best approach just say ive got work in the morning got to get some sleep. just explain the situation that you dont feel comfortable with someone staying while you and your husband are asleep.

either that out dont answer the door to her if she arrives around your house late at night

Tell her that you're tired and want to go to bed and lock up, and that she needs to go home. If she's your friend she'll understand.

I have made my in-laws mad over things like this. It is disrespectful to say the least to overstay your welcome when someone wants to go to bed.
Thank her for visiting & simply tell her it's bedtime & you'll call her tomorrow.
Call her and ask her if she wants to "stop by for a FEW MINUTES" before bedtime.
Just think about it, you'll come up with something.

You tell her point blank that it's your bed time and it's been nice to see her, but she needs to go home now.
