Bleeding behind the eye is extremely serious it can and will if not treated lead to blindness. My mother suffered this condition and went blind within a year, a year after that she developed (squamous cell carcinoma) cancer behind the eyes and died within 8 months.
I am not suggesting this could happen to everyone who experiences bleeding behind the eye but what I will say is FOR GOD'S SAKE GET IT CHECKED OUT believe it or not the best person to see is an optician if something like this is suspected, as they will point you in the right direction.

Before my mum died she lost half her face and I would not like to see that happen again, not even to my worst enemy. What made it even more worse was the fact that the nurses at the hospital a few weeks before she died had no idea how to dress the wound and I had to show them. Much of the time I just did it myself.

It could be a gazillion things. Here's a short list of possibilities. Diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, retinal detachment with retinal hemorrage, retinal vein occlusion, artery occlusion, macular degeneration (wet), eccentric disciform. That should keep you busy for a while looking all that up. But no matter what, you need to go to an ophthalmologist.
