Non-violent resistance has little effect on a brutal dictator but violent resistance would probably only lead to the slaughter of many thousands of innocent people. A possible solution would be for the countries of the African Union to close their borders with Zimbabwe and cease all trade as this is keeping Mugabe in power. Yes the people will suffer but they suffer already it's time something was done to stop that.

It hasn't done that much other than make mugabe tighten the security around his work. zimbabwe is slowly improving though with its commerce through fairtrade but definitely not enough to bring the country out of third world povery.

taking over a country is not a good option though. i sincerely believe in not interfering in other peoples natoins unless 51% of the population want it, it's war or a natural disaster has ruined everything.

looking at it this way, both the blacks and whites are suffering under the wrath of mugabe and so by not resorting to violence, he and his government are still owning and gaining parts of lthe country and seizing white farmers land and selling it onto their supporters. people are still being tortured and left to starve too without any food.

if blair and bush, bono and bob geldof are so keen on helping out africa then they would do something about all this and act. but because zimbabwe has nothing of worth to them; i.e weapons of mass destruction, gold, they don't see any point whatsoever. they've probably given aid to the country already-only for this to end up in the hands of mugabe and his fellow brutes. south africa won't do anything because of tarbo mbeki who is as useless as the country's president and lazy as ever and treating mugabe as if he was his friend.

all i can say to them is that they have blood on their hands. seeing as when they die, it is partly the fault of the west's governments, as well as those at live 8 and where the blame lies with these individuals.
