how do i change in my documents a word document into a .txt file

It is easier to go the other way, but open up MS Word and click File>Save As... and scroll through the options to find .txt.

Open the document in Word
From the File menu select "Save as..."
Right under where you would type the filename is a drop down box of File Types
Change the File Type to .txt
Type in a filename
Save the file
Word will (probably) warn you that is you save it as a txt file you will lose all the formatting. Click OK.
You now have a .txt file of the document

Copy all text on your microsoft word then open notepad.
After that paste it on the notepad and save it.
