I have been to England many times, my girlfriend is English, but I have never lived there. I really want to because I feel I can relate to the British very well, and I've heard that in GENERAL (because I know nothing is lways the case) that the people are nicer, and the cops are a lot more leniant. I am thinking aboout London which i like a lot. Can anyone let me know what they think about living in London?

London is VERY expensive, and very hectic! You could always live outside of London, which would be cheaper. Kent is a beautiful area, and you could commute to London in 45 minutes. The whole of the South East of England is very beautiful.Regardless of what some may say,us Londoners are very friendly!!!!

England is a great place to live - I've never considered living in any of the other places I've visited.

OTOH London is hideously expensive and bloody crowded so I'd definitely visit it but I wouldn't live there again if you paid me. Come North - it's cheaper and less crowded. The people are friendlier and the countryside is so beautiful it will make your heart ache.

London is one of the most expensive places to live in the world. I am from Liverpool in England, much better place and probably the nicest people in britain. Londons people are similar to NEW YORK and are very snobby and up themselves. I would say live in the North, cheaper, better people and generally a lot more to do.

Its wicked expensive but an amazing place and as long as you don't live in the dead centre of it (you really wouldn't want to anyway) you'll find it pretty easy to economize. The people are usually great, too. One thing about London though - people always mind their own business, so be careful. If you get hassled people most likely won't interfere or help you.

I lived north of London in Newmarket (about 70 miles) and it was nice. I'd love to go back. I've been to London and I don't think I would "want" to live there. The traffic sucks and I don't care for public trans even thought it's very good over there. I'll stick to FL for now and maybe head back in a year or so.

Hi
Unless you are a professional earning at least $60k london will be very expensive to live, althought a great place, you need money. Why not try somewhere up North First, and then see how you get on with a job. yanks are always welcome here, we just hate each other and the French!!!!!

Depends on WHERE in London you live. It's like any major city in any country. There are the "ghettos" there are the "rich neighborhoods" there are the "yuppy neighborhoods", ect. I would suggest doing extensive research about prices, neighborhoods, ect in more places than asking in Yahoo QA.

I hear it's a great town. Many people from the New York area, such as myself, love it. I will say this though. I appologize to all my UK friends, but British food is terrible.
