Watching the game, I noticed a few obvious problems. One biggie was that the USA shot poorly from the FT line. Another was poor shot selection. The guys that can shoot from outside (Melo, Hinrich, Battier, Johnson) were not the guys taking the shots. Wade and Lebron were bricking away. Also, as in the NBA, they could not stop Greece's pick-n-roll. They had no answer for Sofoklis "Baby Shaq" Schortsanitis. Now, he isn't good. I saw nothing from him that suggested that the Clippers should call him in, but in this game, he was just too big. He bullied Brand and Bosh. The only guy that gave him trouble was Dwight Howard. That leads to another reason they lost. The coaching. Coach K didn't make the necessary adjustments until a few minutes into the 4th quarter. His adjustments helped the USA cut into the lead, therefore, it is plausible that had he adjusted sooner, they could have won. The roster was a problem, too. The key guys on the team are not suited for FIBA ball. If you had never seen Lebron, Wade & Melo play before, it would be easy to assume that Melo was the best of the three. Melo's game is better suited for the international game. Lebron and Wade are penetrators that don't shoot well. They both were exposed. They finished with good scoring lines, but Wade scored off of a lot of dunks and Lebron scored on the occasions he was able to get inside. When both of them pulled up from outside, they looked horrible. This is NBA blashemy, but Arenas and Morrison would have been more useful than Wade and Lebron. Finally, the Octopus Man is freakin' awesome. Dimitris "Octopus Man" Diamantidis and Houston Rockets draftee, guard Vassilis Spanoulis, were just too good and too much. They got hot and the whole team fed off of there energy. USA lost because at this point in time Greece is a better T-E-A-M.

The basics categories, FT, jumpshots, screen-rolls, zone defense, defensive rotations..., we saw the Greek outdid US, and that was exactly why they won. Their hardwork and teamwork were rewarded.
I mean there are still good teams out there that US had not faced such as France (with Parker hurt), Brazil (a disappointment of this tournament), Italy (US barely beat), Serbia, and Turkey (with new generations to come and the old stars not even participating..., It's really hard to tell how good they really are). The world is definitely catching up and US no longer dominate the sport.
Also, send all the best players out won't insure you a champion if you can't work as a team. Remember Shaq and Kobe? Or try to put Kobe and T-Mac on the same team....will they win?

It's hard for a group of "me" guys to get thrown together for a few months and play against a "team" that's been playing together for a long time. The raw talent can do so much but eventually it will run out. The reason they were so dominant the first few years with NBA players was the unselfishness of the stars on the team. They no longer have those types of players on the court or in the league. Teams win championships...not players.

The reason is simple. We are not that good any more. Other countries play with stronger fundamentals. Think about it the way it was for USA hockey when they beat the then powerful Russian team. They formed a team and worked on the fundamentals. Not individual play, and they actually played DEFENSE, not playground b-ball

because of the fact have self assurance it or no longer you could no longer infinitely enhance government intake and watch its multiplying miracle in all that's glory. If we could feasibly spend our thank you to prosperity then there are a number of counntries that would desire to be extra prosperous than us now consisting of Greece and Portugal. WW2 had many extra aspects than the debt point at play. We have been over complete employment with many intake constraints to help the conflict. The U.S. became additionally properly placed after relative to the international as a internet creditor with a sparkling superb production middle from the conflict.

basketball is a team sport.... having the best and most talented players in your team doesn't mean that you will dominate your oponents night in and night out.... it was clear that the greeks outplayed your beloved team usa... hahahaha i think the players who were chosen were quite ok because there was a balance in the team and each one has a well define role in the team... having kobe and arenas will not change the complexion of the game... their both ball hogs and are not pure shooters... the greeks played with alot of fire... i think king james was outplayed by melo and wade in this tournament... im also wondering why coach K didn't played dwight howard a lot considering that he was really dominating at the early stages of the game... its clear that usa is not as dominating as it was the past few decades... the rest of the "world" is catching up in terms of team play....

No outside shot. They still need some players to hit the three. Kobe and Gilbert Arenas are going to be on team when they start up again to get ready for the Olympics. That will add a more potent line-up.

well the real reason is cause USA needs to pass the ball around especially Carmelo Anthony he doesn't pass the ball so he messed up the team with that. Also leBron barely get the ball.

It is called 'TEAMWORK"....the foreign teams have mastered this......remember the Ryder Cup from what2-3 matches back.......they went into the team (doubles) play and the Americans got behind by several points....the next day they went to the individual play and they caught the European group and ended up winning....this is the match where the Americans caught a lot of "flak" over their celebration.......what does that tell you........it is about "teamwork" and we don't have it!!!
