I recently moved to my uncle's house, who has DirecTV programming. He's had a Tivo box for a few years and it is simply amazing. The other day I went to Best Buy and purchased a DirecTV-branded DVR (I think it's the R15) because they didn't have any Tivo boxes for DirecTV. After several nights of frustration with the user interface and overall poor design, I have decided to look elsewhere for a new Tivo-branded DVR.

I called DirecTV and they say that I can no longer buy a Tivo-branded DVR for DirecTV programming...at least thru them.

My question is: Can I still buy a Tivo DVR for DirecTV somewhere? Anywhere? And if I could, how easy would it be for me to get rid of my current p.o.s. and set up the Tivo unit?

*And I'm not looking to ebay for this; I've only heard bad things about people selling units that haven't been de-authorized.

Funny, I was just searching for the same thing. I too have been a bit leery about buying it on eBay. Your question popped up in my search. I did find a place. (link below) It is the Hughes ( I have one, its great). $99 is the going rate when I have seen them in stores. I have the R15 and I HATE it. I gave my son my tivo and now I wish I never did.

Are you looking for a regular TiVo or the HD TiVo? I believe you can still buy the HD unit from Best Buy or Circuit City. While DirecTV no longer sells these units, they still support them. If you are after a standard TiVo, I'm not sure that these are still availble commercially, E-bay maybe your only hope and work out an agreement with the seller that the unit is useable or returnable.

Please tell me that you do not have trouble with a R-15 box ( I just purchased one from a Comp-USA that was going out of business and all sales final).. Now I know why the unit was only $70.00.. Still running wires in Michigan..But still love my Tivo DVR from Hughes..

The Directv model tivo box worked great for me......its a Hughes of course but has a tivo logo on it.....Its $100 or so and you have to look for them at Bestbuy or C. City....They use to come with a rebate but it just extend the contract period I think....... When I got mine it was on a top shelf and they had to get a ladder and get one down for me at BestBuy.......jp

hi the splendid approach is to practice the little ones firearm safe practices. Take your little ones to the decision with you. i ought to allow the older of both shoot the gun. It receives rid of a great number of interest. practice them that guns are not any more toys. practice them to go away them on my own except you're operating with them. I raised a collection of kids in a house with a lot of guns, and no human being stepped forward any holes. the little ones knew that in the journey that they had to address a gun they choose our permission. even as they had to exhibit the a gun to their friends they could ask, and we would supervise the consultation. As for your decision in a house protection gun, the Glock will artwork even as the little ones are youthful, the set off pull is lengthy and heavy so maximum small little ones have issues getting the gun to hearth. i ought to in my opinion keep the gun with a loaded mag in the nicely, and no cartridge in the chamber. in case you want the gun, take if from the nightstand and artwork the slide. A gun saved in this situation is often previous the ability of a baby via age about 8. again, the basically right area of do in case you need to maintain a gun in the homestead is to practice the splendid training for your little ones. Hiding a gun basically makes them curious, and then they are going to be coping with the gun once you're not any more round.
